Karnataka as seen by MARIO - An exhibition of select sketches of people and places of Karnataka by legendary Mario de Miranda at Indian Cartoon Gallery Bengaluru‘The Open Eyes’
The Information Department of the Government of Karnataka had commissioned a book by eminent writer Mr.Dom Moraes in 1975. The book was titled ‘the Open Eyes’ which was illustrated by eminent cartoonist Mr.Mario de Miranda. Mr.Chiranjeev Singh, who headed The Information Department, says, Mr.Mario has done a splendid job and his drawings on Karnataka are among his finest works. Mr.Singh further says that Mr.Mario was an acute observer to human beings and nature. He was not just a great cartoonist, he was a fine artist. All these qualities can be seenre in his drawings on Karnataka. Mario’s selected sketches are displayed here.
