Mahesh will share his expertise as a writer and reader to discuss the possibilities and challenges of creative writing, the publishing process in India and abroad, and the establishment of writing goals. The workshop will be an opportunity to share and critique work, as well as to touch on a variety of areas that can be of concern to writers, including: technique, voice, time management, creative blocks and the difficulties of rejection.

The session is intended to be as interactive as possible and writers will be able to email Mahesh in advance of the session with any particular points of concern; if there is sufficient interest, these will be incorporated into the discussion.

This is a limited entry workshop with only 12 people in the session.

The Workshop fee is Rs. 5500 and can be booked on http://www.bookmyshow.com and includes:

2. Lunch and Tea.
Mahesh Rao is a novelist and short story writer. He studied politics and economics at the University of Bristol and law at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics. In the UK he has worked as a lawyer, academic researcher and bookseller.

His short fiction has been shortlisted for various awards, including the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, The Baffler, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. His debut novel, ‘The Smoke Is Rising’, won the Tata First Book Award for fiction, and was shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize and the Crossword Prize. ‘One Point Two Billion’, his collection of short stories, was published to critical acclaim in October 2015. He is a judge for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2017 and the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2016.
