mystique-an-phenomenal-solo-exhibition-by-shoeb-dastagirBorn in 1985, Artist Shoeb Dastagir has always known to be very creative since his childhood; he paints with various mediums-oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoals and anything that’s workable in his hands. He spent most of his teens in Bahrain and returned to India in the year 2000.

A student of Chitrakala Parishath between 2003-2006; he had to drop out of college in his third year as he fell ill in 2006 and it has been a long journey of recovery since. But with rock-solid support from his family, he continued painting throughout with brief but several interruptions and this will be his second solo painting exhibition.

Although his social skills are back to normal, he is still reluctant to go out and prefers to work in the quiet space of home. He also enjoys animation and dabbles in composing music and writing and keeps himself creatively occupied. He has completed an advanced course in Animation from Cavellier Institute.

His artworks are unique with a distinct style of fantasy realism that is depicted using bright hues and elaborate patterns and the apparent inspiration that he draws from his imagination. His paintings have an urge for expression as seen in most of his works-each canvas brings out different moods.

“Mystique” as titled by the Artist himself, is the fertility of his ideation bearing fruit …as he delves into chance and prediction. He seems to now be ready to take the viewer on a fresh journey of showing the different phases of feelings, emotions and thoughts that he has experienced over the years. The Woman seems to play a pivotal role as his muse & companion adding a sense of mystery, beauty & novelty to his artworks, which are often juxtaposed with self portraits expressing his moods & state of mind. Shoeb Dastagir lives and works in Bangalore.
