Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival ’16 – ‘Not The Metro’

ranga-shankara-theatre-festival-2016The Ranga Shankara Theatre Fest 2016 is round the corner, scheduled for 6th Nov to 13th. “Not the Metro” is the theme this year. India’s vibrant heartbeat emanates not necessarily just from the metro cities. This year, Ranga Shankara is sharing theatre work from distant towns and cities of the country like Jalna in Maharashtra, Goalpara in Assam and Kota in Rajasthan.

You are an informed theatre audience having grown with Ranga Shankara over the years. You are invited to make use of this opportunity to watch some amazing theatre from across the country. The plays have been carefully chosen by our Artistic Director S Surendranath for their varied content and the passion with which the troupes have pushed boundaries.

Another significant event will mark Fest 2016. Musui, a monumental sculpture by K G Radhakrishnan will be installed in Ranga Shankara, on 6th Nov. Musui is a Santhal boy who is the celebrated sculptor’s subject in most of his works. The unveiling will be done by Prof. G Venkatasubbiah. K G Radhakrishnan and Ranga Shankara’s dear friend and patron S G Vasudev will be special guests at the event.

The Shankar Nag Theatre Award will round off the festival on 13th Nov, with an outstanding young theatre practitioner of the country getting the honour.

From 6th Nov to 13th November 2016 | 6:30 PM everyday. There will be music in the foyer and sweets from the region the day’s play comes from.
