To Bailangadi Prabhakar Rao of Kasaragod district, Kerala the name was too long. So he shortened it to ‘Raobail’ to make it stand out. And indeed, Mr. Raobail has stood out in every field he has tried his hand at cartooning, collage, caricature, painting and mimicry.

As a cartoonist, Mr. Raobail has a unique distinction it was after his retirement from the Art Department of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, Mumbai where he worked as an illustrator-designer over 31 years, that he really became very popular! Mr. Raobail has designed children’s books for UNICEF and greeting cards for CRY and Concern India. He has contributed his cartoons to Shankar’s Weekly, Debonair, Times of India, Taj Magazine, Signature, Reader’s Digest and many more Kannada Dailies and periodicals. His cartoons have also been featured in the Penguin Book of Indian Cartoonists.

80 year old veteran cartoonist Mr. Raobail is now a resident of Bengaluru. He has been felicitated by IIC with Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. 50 of his select display works at the gallery include envelope designs, stamp designs, collages, sketches, strip cartoons and a 22″x53″ ‘Madding Crowd’ in glass frame.
