Meet 11 year old Suraj, who toils in the dangerous rat-hole coal mines of the Jaintia Hills of North East India, hoping to one day escape the dark abyss and return to school. Men and boys burrow into narrow tunnels, armed with nothing more than a pickaxe and a torch, all looking for a chance to breakout. Some are able to escape, most don’t. What becomes of Suraj and the other miners?
