Priyanka Iyer, a junior (11th grade) at Franklin High School, Wisconsin, USA has been learning Bharatanatyam for a decade now. She commenced her training as a six year old under Guru Subashree Hariharan in Erie, PA and continued her training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Kripa Baskaran, Director of Natyarpana Dance Company, Milwaukee, WI for almost 7years now.

Priyanka won the prestigious apprenticeship award from the Arts Board of Wisconsin to study under the master artiste Kripa Baskaran for the year 2014 – ’15 spring. Priyanka gave her Arangetram in 2015.

Priyanka performed in Rama Kathasudha, a dance drama both at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana and in Minnesota Historic Society as a fund raiser for the Global Divinity Organization, USA. She also performed in Nauka charithram at Hindu Temple of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. In addition, she has been a regular performer in various community events and represents her dance school Natyarpana in educational outreach programs across the United States.

Apart from Bharatnatyam, she is currently learning Carnatic vocal music from Guru Smt. Charumathi Ramachandran, Chennai. Priyanka is a member of her school chamber choir and won the Exemplary award for solo singing at the Wisconsin state level competition. She has won many awards for public speaking both at regional and state levels. She volunteers at “South East Asian Literacy”, a non-profit organization that supports refugees from Myanmaar to USA.
