हद -अनहद: Had-Anhad – Finding the Boundless

Had-Anhad explores works of poets across India, and present select poems in a signature folk-classical idiom, with two voices unified by the strings of the instrument. The concert will feature works of Kabir, Khusro, Andal, Jani, among others. Familiar pieces weave together with rarer works, some of which have been composed and revived for the first time. In a world that is increasingly divided, it is hoped that these voices from several centuries ago become bridges of hope and love.

About the artists:
Shruthi Vishwanath is a singer, composer and educator. She has trained in Carnatic and choral music, and has performs spiritual poetry in a folk-classical idiom. Shruthi has performed at several venues in India and abroad, to critical acclaim. She is currently working on a project to compose music to the poems of women warikaris and bring them back the the performance sphere.

Vedanth Bharadwaj is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Chennai. He is trained in both Hindustani and Western classical music, and is known for his contemporary-classical renditions of bhakti poetry. Vedanth has scored music for several films, and collaborates regularly with renowned musicians across genres and disciplines. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals in India and abroad.

There will be a hat collection after to help support the performers’ artistic journeys and the costs incurred. Support of any kind is welcome.
