Bhoomija presents Jackfruit ’17 – Music by Children

“India’s Got Talent” Winner – young Flutist Suleiman and Sahana Chandrashekhar at the Jackfruit ’17

Bhoomija’s “Jackfruit ’17”, their music by children programme brings to stage some extraordinary young talent.

Suleiman, the 14 year old Hindustani flutist from Amritsar and a disciple of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, comes back for his third Jackfruit concert. This year, he is accompanied on the tabla by the supremely talented Ojas Adhiya from Mumbai, whose recent performances for Bhoomija stunned the audiences.

Sahana Chandrashekar, a two-time Bhoomija Children’s Carnatic Choir singer comes up with a solo in Jackfruit ’17. Already a prolific performer at 15, Sahana has trained under eminent teachers in the past and is currently learning from Chaitrra Sriram, a senior disciple of Bombay Jayashri. She has won several awards in her 10 year musical journey. Two of Bangalore’s prominent young performers accompany Sahana – Vaibhav Ramani on the violin and Kumaresh Krishnan on the Mridangam.

“Jackfruit is one of the most significant events we present from India. This year, it has become bigger – after a day of concerts by these two young stars, we will have the Children’s Carnatic Choir and a pan-India percussion ensemble during June”, says Gayathri Krishna, the Managing Trustee of Bhoomija.
