“Purvanvaya” a retrospect, solo show of the artworks by Vijay Sindhur.

The Solo Show will be inaugurated by Sudharkar Rao, Chairman of NGMA and presided over by Dr B.L.Shankar, President of Chitrakala Parishath.

Born in 1940, I studied at J.J. school of Arts (1965) Vijay Sindhur has received the National Award (1983) for art. Mr.Sindhur has held several solo and group shows and attended major art camps at various places like Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Bhopal, New Delhi and Mysore. Vijay’s artworks are at the prominent collections of private and corporate art lovers, both in India and abroad. Artworks by the artist has been recognised through awards from various art related agencies from Bombay Art Society, Camlin, and Karnataka state Lalitkala Academy and from places like Dharwad, Mumbai and New Delhi.

Vijay Sindhur’s paintings deal with appropriating the cultural past of the Indian context, the folklore as well as the spiritual past of the country and has historicised in the art historical context of Karnataka as well as Indian painting.
