“Expressing the erotic – What Sringara Rasa means to Indian Dance” – a Panel discussion cum Abhinaya

Bangalore International Centre (A TERI Initiative) organizes a Panel discussion cum Abhinaya titled “Expressing the erotic – What Sringara Rasa means to Indian Dance”

Shringara or amorous love is considered to be the mother of all the nine rasas in Indian dance. It includes jealousy, passion anger, fear, lust and love. It is intimate and secret, yet universal. In this panel, two superb exponents of Indian dance will explore this nation of “amor” or amorous love. They will emote this feeling, demonstrate how it is used and displayed in Indian dance and give historical content that goes back to the Natyashastra. How do males experience shringara? This will be a fantastic exploration of the feeling that made poets swoon.
