Mr Chander Shekhar Gurera (full name) an accredited editorial cartoonist, illustrator and graphic designer was born on August30, 1965 at Moga, Punjab. He has made his debut in cartooning in 1984. He has graduated (BSc) from Punjab University, Patiala, 1986; BFA from College of Art, New Delhi, 1990 and Master in Animation from Arena Multimedia, Gurgaon, 1997.

Mr Gurera’s daily pocket cartoons appear in several leading English, Hindi, Urdu and regional language daily newspapers. He remains associated with The Hind Samachar Ltd (Punjab Kesari, Navodaya Times, Jagbani, Hind Samachar), NavaBharat, Central Chronicle, Dainik Navajyoti, Sanmarg etc. He also worked for the Times of India group (T01, NBT, ST, Dinman Times, Sarika, Vama, CCT etc in 1988-89), Indian Express group (1E, JS etc in 1989-91), Hindustan Times Group (HT, Dainik Hindustan etc in 1991-96), The Pioneer (1991-2013) with his editorial cartoon for their main papers and magazine sections.

MILESTONES.
• Best Cartoon Award 1990, awarded by Giani Zail Singh, The President of India • Best Cartoonist Award, 1992, awarded by PVN Rao, The Prime Minister of India, in first Babu Jagjeevan Ram Memorial All India Art Exhibition. • Represented India at the Third Asian Cartoon and Art Exhibition in Tokyo, 1997 • Awarded in Saitama’s Humor Photo Contest at Japan, 2002 • Honored in Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya Memorial 7th Annual Award for Journalism (Cartoonist), 2011 at Mewar Institute, Gaziabad He has compiled a book of cartoons on Kargil War Kargil Kartoons (dedicated to the Indian Defense forces) in1999, Booklet on the history of Indian Railways in 2000, a calendar for National Productivity Council in 2005 & 2016. The display work includes 26 editorial cartoons, 6 pocket Cartoons and 18 Future Lens (Now and 30 years Later)
