RajguruSmruti is a public charitable Trust established in the memory of the great Exponent of Hindustani music, Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru. The main objective of the Trust is to nurture and promote and Hindustani classical music. Our classical arts have survived many centuries of drastic changes even as they have adapted to the new needs and visions of the different eras. So a special effort is called upon each of us to save this heritage, which is on the endangered list.

Rajguru Smruti has been organizing concerts by well established as well as up-coming artists, conducting seminars, workshops and lecture demonstrations, the common motive in all the endeavors being, a commitment to excellence.

bhuvnesh-komkaliBorn into a rich legacy of music, Bhuvanesh Mukul Komkali was destined to be a singer. Surrounded by the sound of an incomparable vocalist tradition since conception, Bhuvanesh grew up with the rhythms and shifting weight of original compositions imbuing hi senses. Even if he cared not to listen, the pulse could not be ignored because it was in his blood.

Grandson of Pandit Kumar Gandharva, son of Mukul Shivputra, Bhuvanesh’s musical journey began, unbeknownst to him, in infancy. Bhuvanesh’s earliest memories are filled with the sounds of early morning practice, performances and recordings. An amazing repertoire made its way into the very cells of his being, even as he graduated from college with a commerce degree.

Bhuvanesh’s musical quest continues today under the tutelage of Smt. Vasundhara Komkali and Shri Madhup Mudgal. Analytical environment and meditating over the different aspects of classical music boosted energy to bloom and glow his artistic personality.

Learning the rudiments of vocal music under such accomplished teachers has deepened Bhuvanesh’s appreciation for his forefather’s talents and renewed his commitment to preserve and extend his heritage. By following the values and philosophy established by Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Bhuvanesh proves his commitment and persistence for music through his singing.

He is currently engaged in enriching the archives of Pandit Kumar Gandharva’s music using the latest in digital technology. Bhuvanesh has composed music for Hindi feature film ‘Devi Ahilya’. Bhuvanesh has performed successfully in almost all over India in reputed music festivals and has been highly appreciated by the well versed audience.

He has been awarded with scholarship by cultural department of Government of India. In the year 2009 he was awarded by and Shanmukhanand Shiromani Award & Mallikarjun Mansur yuva puraskaar by Govt. of Karnataka in 2010 and Sangeet Natak Akademi’s prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2012 He is a regular performer for All India Radio. He was sent by Govt of India to perform in Mauritius and Nepal.

satish-vyasRenowned Santoor maestro Pandit Satish Vyas, blessed with a formidable musical background and training, thanks to both his father and his guru, continues to build an outstanding reputation as a soloist on the Santoor (hammered dulcimer). His first fortune was to be born the son of Padma Bhushan (Late) Pandit C. R. Vyas, one of the most respected vocalists on the Indian music scene, a fine and highly knowledgeable performer who was the young Satish’s first teacher. His second fortune was to be accepted as a disciple by the great legend Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma – a man so identified with his instrument that classical Indian Santoor playing is unthinkable without Shiv Kumar Sharma’s contribution to the art.

Before taking the decision to make music his profession, Satish Vyas had completed his education with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in science & Management Studies, and even begun to establish a career in the business world. This background is no doubt of use to him in his work as a major and one of the most successful organisers of classical music festivals in India, and indeed as Artistic Director of Navras Records in India.

Pandit Satish Vyas has been a regular concert artist for the last more than 30 years or so, performing and recording all over the world, more extensively in the USA, UK & Europe, Japan and Australasia. In 1997, he was the only non-Western instrumentalist invited to perform in Venice, Italy at the “Mostra Mozart Festival”, organised by the prestigious European Mozart Foundation. Vyas had also manifested his versatility by performing as a “guest musician” with the Jazz / World Music Fusion Group, “Silk” accompanying the renowned vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, the Percussion maestro Shivamani, well known Composer /Pianist / Keyboard artiste Louis Banks and Karl Peters (Bass Guitar) at a Barbican Centre concert in London few years back. He also had the privilege of performing at the world famous EDINBURGH Festival in Scotland.

Pandit Satish Pandit Satish Vyas has a number of recordings to his credit with labels such as UK-based Navras Records, Music Today, Times Music, BMG Crescendo and Sony Music. Recently Sony Music has released an album titled RESONANCE which is partly composed by Satish Vyas along with 3 Boston ( USA ) based American Musicians.

Satish Vyas has been decorated with many awards and few of which are mentioned below.

The Government Of India has honoured Pandit Satish Vyas with Padma Shri in 2003.

He is also bestowed upon with “ Kumar Gandharva Rashtriya Sanman” by Kumar Gandharva Foundation, Mumbai in 2010.

In January 2015 Satish Vyas was honored with the prestigious Award SWARSAGAR SANGEET PURASKAR by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

On February 28 , 2015 Satish Vyas was presented with the prestigious ” GURU MADAN LAL KOSER-GURU SHOBHA KOSER AWARD” by the premier Institution “Pracheen Kala Kendra” of Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.

The Annual Sangeet Samaroh attracts thousands of music lovers every year and offers a superior quality of Hindustani classical music amidst the lush green environment at The Venue.
